Upcoming Events

Pen Power - Write Start

Weekly 1hr morning session at Elmwood Community Centre, Hartburn. Begins March 4th 2019: 10-11am

Writing is a great way to clear the mind, address any worries and get energised for the day ahead. With a range of activities designed with emotional wellbeing in mind, this is the perfect session for maintaining your levels of mental fitness whilst doing something fun with other people.

You don’t need to be a ‘writer’ to take part, and you don’t have to share your writing. The session is about process not product. All you need is a notebook and pen, and a willingness to give it a try! Facilitated by published poet and experienced practitioner Dr Natalie Scott.

Pen Power - Just Write

Monthly 3hr afternoon session at Elmwood Community Centre, Hartburn. Begins March 14th 2019: 12-3pm

Writing can be a lonely business when it's just you sitting at home. There's a different energy when you write in a group. Come and share a comfortable writing space with other like-minded people to just write. Bring a project in progress to work on or challenge yourself to starting something new. What you write is entirely up to you! Natalie will be there to give you some gentle encouragement throughout the session.

Pen Power - Taster session for Crossing the Tees Festival

on June 18th 2019 at a choice of two venues: Hartlepool Library: 2-4pm and Acklam Library: 6-8pm

This taster session will guide you through a range of activities designed to help you become more expressive and self-aware, connect with other people and cope better with life’s problems. Some activities will use a poem as a prompt to stimulate your own thoughts through group discussion and help you to write a creative response. Others will encourage you to express your thoughts on the page and through discussion in response to a subject, theme or object. There will be no pressure to share your writing but if you choose to do so it will be received in a supportive, non-critical way. No prior writing experience is necessary and writers of all abilities are welcome. The main focus of the session will be on expression of ideas rather than writing craft.
